[…] In this case, either the person is doing something wrong or using a very lowend hardware. My meanwhile 7 years old notebook needs less than a minute.

[…] That's exactly what I meant. The main pupose of those scanners in multifunctional printers is not to deliver scans of photos in a high quality, but to be fast when scanning text documents or making copies of a document. I once had a dedicated HP SCSI flatbed scanner and its quality regarding details, colours and greyscale was far better than the quality of my current Epson multifunctional printer. The Epson is not really bad, but delivers not the quality I like to see when using scans for…

Cosmic isn't a linux distro, it's a desktop enviroment like LXDE and others. I think there run WINBOAT in the backround. So there is no native integration for Windows apps!

Is not mentioned in the article, but you can see it in the screenshots. Not sure if it is included, or the writer of the article installed later, but it is a nice ad in any case: https://www.xda-developers.com/cosmic-feels-like-first-desktop-environment-designed-normal-people/

#1 - No, noting they are certainly traveling a slightly different road compared to Adobe (my opinion). #2 - not really - reliability is good on my end, design software capable of high levels takes high levels of computing power. Slight compromise to run on older hardware makes sense to me. I saw a post on another photo forum say "light-room AI de-noising can take about 10 minutes per image (no idea on the persons hardware) that would drive me nuts and I'm just an amateur (just an example)

[…] To what you refer when you say that a scanning is "poor"? I always scanned with the integrated scanner of some printer -long time ago i had a dedicated umax scsi scanner. The difference i see is not in the detail, but color. Certain colors are so different than the real image

[…] Yes, but mostly the quality of the scans is very poor.

marce replied to the thread Scanning Not in Windows, there is some reason?.

Well, appear there are several reasons to continue scanning materials. I guess it since there are a lot of offer of multi-function printers that include scan. I dont know if people scan too much, but the offer is there.

Mopperle replied to the thread Scanning Not in Windows, there is some reason?.

Depends on what you are scanning. For slides and negatives I use the best scanner ever available, a Nikon LS4000 in combination with Silverfast. For „scanning“ everything else (prints etc.) I use a reprostand with a DSLR attached. I never used the scanner software that came with the hardware, so I see no need in a scanning function in Affinity.

Multi-Level Numbered List.

I move the ruler, update the style, and then resize the window, and it all goes to sh**, and I need to redo it all. And last night, I could not get the bullets to sit flush with the left of the text box no matter what I did. When I duplicated the same behavior in Affinity 2.6.5, it worked just fine.

The old Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher forum by Serif is now in read-only mode and serves only as an archive. But the exchange among users, shared learning, and creative collaboration are too valuable to disappear. This new Affinity Community was created as a living space for questions, ideas, and inspiration. By registering and taking part, you help build an independent, active platform where Affinity users can continue to connect. Every new discussion, shared project, and comment helps others find useful content and keeps the community alive. At the same time, many are waiting with anticipation for Serif’s announcement “Creative Freedom is coming.” What it will bring is still uncertain – and that makes it all the more important to have a space where these developments can be followed and discussed together. This community depends on participation. Every voice and every topic keeps the spirit of creative freedom and collaboration alive within the Affinity world – open, independent, and lasting.
