Please forgive my noobiness but I don't know what the nouns are to describe the "curly-Qs" and scribbles people use to fill in a background on a flyer?

If you just have a photo + an illustration and text in a flyer it looks boring.

I'm trying to find either in Affinity or Pixabay or pexels where you find these kinds of background "fillers" but I don't know what they're called.

I've attached a little example from a Canva template to give you an idea of the kinds of background "figures" I'm looking for to fill in a plain background.

Hi Oufti.... If you would pls share how I reach that RGB when I first open a new document in Affinity?

I click File > New and I'm presented with many options including A3, etc. How do then reach that RGB to make this Comment Card not 8.5 x 11 but a small card to print and give to class attendees they will complete and hand back to us. It's the size of an American Postcard. Also, once I've started creating content in a "draft" of this Comment Card can I then save all that I've created as a Comment Car size (W: 148 mm H: 105 mm)? Or must I start with that chosen Size first and then add all my content - e.g. illustrations, text, etc?

My goal is to watch "efficient" videos (cf. YT where they try to teach you everything you ever need to ever know how to do in Affinity but rather videos which instruct the top 10-15 tasks you'll use everyday) but this is all for a class this Wednesday morning and I've have many other work tasks and program I need to do at work so there's no time to watch those videos now as I multi-task on other projects simultaneously.

I was hoping a Comment Card template in Affinity existed where one could swap out content but have the template already formatted with paper size already preset but that's what this will become for me!

I'm still unsure RE: how to create 4-5 horizontal lines repeating in the Comment Card.

Ex. Tell us what you liked re: this class..

All the lines would be designed so I could adjust their widths (length of the line across the page) as well as the spacing between each line as I've created in the uploaded MS Word mock up.

Grateful to this forum as I learn to develop skill sets in Affinity.

I'm trying to now create a Comment Card (aka Feedback or Survey) for a free class I've created.

I've attached what I've created in MS Word but AI directs me to create an A6 card by opening a New Document > choose the Print option (I don’t readily see that) so I chose File > Print but there is no Size listed in there. I'm not sure how to reach A6 for a short comment card (about 40-50% the size of an 8.5 x 11 page.

I then wanted insert blank square boxes next to which I can post questions which AI and Google advised that I click on the Rectangle Tool (along the left Toolbar) choose the rounded square box an drag it over to the Comment Card.... but it won’t drag over. Is there a better way to insert such a shape?

Lastly, I want to create repeating horizontal lines with enough space between each line so class participants can write in their comments, suggestions.

AI advised I click the Pen tool and place the cursor on the page and click once (successful) sot strat the line and then place the cursor where you want the line to stop an click and then press the Escape key. I find it a little tricky getting that sketching tool to stop sketching all over as I’ve pressed the Escape key several times.

Once I do get line to finish and stop sketching anymore my thought was to just copy that line and paste in int 4-5 lines down the page. Windows functions don't seem to work well in Affinity. Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V doesn’t seem to work nor Ctrl + Z so I’m not sure how to reverse the past 2-3 steps performed in a creation.

I'll keep digging to see if I can unearth a comparison chart comparing how you perform tasks in Windows or Word or MS Publisher with how to accomplish those tasks in Affinity.

Just quickly re: colors. I wanted to change the green color depicted in Helpful Videos and thought I could highlight that text and choose the Color Picker or the Swatches but when I choose a color in any of the small boxes it doesn't change the color in any of those letters in those 2 words.

I have the Helpful Videos Layer selected.... as seen as seen below. I'm not sure what step(s) I;m missing here. Thank you!

This is what I see...

I'm trying to get this Handout so the "background" (scissors, spools, etc.) all blend in behind the text I composed so there is no "white part" showing - just that background I found on pixabay an d my text over that. I have no idea how to reach Marquee Selection Behavior or Move Tool Aspect Constrain no if those are the tools to use for what my intended goal is?

If we could please step back a bit...

When I open "Affinity" it never displays what version. ex. version 2.1, 3.0 it just displays Affinity By Canva. Unlike Word or Libre Writer where I choose the About (tab) and see I;m usig Word 365 or Libre Writer 2.4.3 in Affinity it displays the same info as when I open Affinity - nothing about which version, if it's "Studio" or other. Then, I've watched 2 YT videos and some AI having Googled Marquee Selection Behavior and they just show some of its features, not how one reached that "tool" or feature. I don't see "Tools" listed as a tab along the top - just File | Edit | Document, etc. Would you please share the steps in reaching those suggestions starting from once you open Affinity? Thank you!

I've Googled this and found instructions and an A-Pub cheat sheet but it's not clear to me how to change line spacing between each line to the exact amount you want? I chose Text > Paragraph leading but that just allows for increase/decrease - not a precise setting amount. On the A-Pub list they advised to just move your cursor over the text unit it looks right? But, it seems you have to choose Increase/Decrease first? Would you pls share the precise steps in changing spacing between lines? Also, it's become a concern that the cursor won't allow me to drag the 4 corners so it fills the whole box - there appear small grey areas but when I click on it I just get Text Box. I need to move all the content in unison so all 4 corners of the whole box are full. If that happens, I've pressed the Esc AND F1 keys but neither allow you to ext any of t text boxes so yo can move all the content at once. I've attached (I think!) the progress I've made. Thank you!

Hi... I'm not a graphics professional but for my job I need to create a one page handout for a free class I've created. I'd like to import a free .png from Pixabay (scissors, thread spools, etc.) and then change the Transparency (Opaqueness) to approximately 41% so the figures in that .png appear faded so they don't overshadow plain text I'll write in a Text Box for this one page 8.5 x 11 handout. My goal is to also insert a photo (love Pixabay! - a close up of a sewing machine needle) which ideally stands out (like the text I'll input in a text box). Affinity Publisher offers impressive tools I'd like to learn to use (get better using) but after watching some YT videos there are gaps in between what all the steps are in creating something like I'm alluding to and how that hadnout should look as the end design. Anyone recall the comic version of how to draw a horse where the 1st 3 frames are curved lines and the last box is an intricately drawn horse? I learn best with screenshots but few seem to take the time necessary for that. I hope I've described this so the goal(s) is)are understandable? Thank you so much!
