    Thanks VomUtz. I did try disabling hardware acceleration but it didn't help. the best result were with it enabled & increased RAM usage limit to the maximum. Then in the Machine Learning section setting changing the inference to best efficiency. Still a bit hit & miss though.

    In his latest video descibing new features in Affinity 3.1 & 3.2, James Ritson describes using an Object selection mask in the develop studio. When I tried this the application crashed.

    I tried turning off video acceleration but it still crashed. I am on a PC with the latest update to Windows 11. Has anyone else tried this?. I'll submit a report to Affinity.

    Just let everyone know that James Ritson (one of the developers) is hosting a live stream on Youtube on the 23rd April at 16:00 BST to explore the new image editing features in 3.1 & 3.2. You can see the details at

    Make sure to read the fine print in the Claude option and that one needs an anthropic account which maybe a (future) liability since it is connected to Amazon and Palantir and might be non private et all.
    And;

    You might want to read this before getting involved with Anthropic.

    If you are on Affinity Studio you could try the Live Tone Group option to make the object blend in better. This video is one of a number explaining its use.

    Using Windows version

    I'm likely missing something but can't seem to find the tone cure selection. I see in the notes they added more selections but can't see to find them, and the use a curve or not selection is not where it was.

    Here is what my develop assistant looks like for reference, I've looked through settings and can't seem to locate it (I probably have missed something)

    Was it there in version 3.03? It was definitely in Affinity 2 but is missing from 3.1

    How so? For me, it does work, but I have to drag just to the right of the item name to be able to do the drag. I can't drag on the name itself.

    But note that this changes the order in the Home screen (the leftmost tab named "Home") not the order of the 5 tabs across the top of that window.

    What does not work is disabling any of the 4 categories by unchecking its tickbox.

    I can't get the feature to work either in Windows. Perhaps it only works for the Mac version. If anyone can confirm this I'll raise it as a bug.

    Don't be confused. Using Windows, in Affinity 3.0, if you make a selection with your selection brush, and the "marching ants" are visable, you go to the VIEW menu, then SHOW, and just uncheck the Pixel selection item and the marching ants disappear! You can recheck it at any time and the "Ants" return.

    For ease of use I created a custom shortcut (F12) to View>Show>Pixel Selection. I just use it to toggle the marching ants on or off.
