They usually keep all their versions in sync, but I can't find 2.6.5 for iPad on the AppStore. Hopefully, it will be back in a few days.

The AppStore says v2.6.4 for me right now. Maybe a CDN delay or whatnot.

The check for new updates is only performed once a day. If the programs have already been launched, you can also initiate the check manually within the programs.

My point is that a search of the App Store show no results for affinity products. How would a new user find them on the App Store ??

As has been mentioned here several times, the desktop versions of the programs are no longer available. This means there is no way for potential customers to download, test, or purchase the programs.
Existing customers can download the programs from the Serif Affinity Store.
I don't mean to be dense BUT here is what I read this morning. So if Affinity Designer is on the App Store why is it not findable?? Is it that ONLY subscribers are seeing it there? All I found were some Affinity templates.

If you have bought Affinity apps from the Mac App Store, the update will be offered in the App Store app's Updates tab and you can download it from there.
Also, if you have e.g. deleted the app and want to reinstall the latest version, you will find it in your account tab.
For example, I have bought Designer v1 and Photo v1 from the Mac App Store because at that time there was no Serif Store yet, so that's where I can download v1.10.8 of both apps.
Whereas the rest I bought from the Serif Store, so to download the other versions I go there.
Other than that, a plain search in the Mac App Store will return no results because it's no longer for sale.
But…
You can still download the v2 apps from the iPadOS App Store. They are at the moment free as in free beer. We don't know yet what will happen to them after 30 October.
If you have bought Affinity apps from the Mac App Store, the update will be offered in the App Store app's Updates tab and you can download it from there.
And the same sort of thing with the Microsoft Store. Although you don't have to purchase it, you just have to have had it installed. You can use the Universal License with them.
In fact I was able to link back to the app page from my install in case anyone on Windows wants to see if it can still be downloaded. I have them installed already so I can't tell.

It would have to be inside the Microsoft App Store. I'm not sure if it was ever able to be downloaded from the regular website. Do you still get the same message in the store app?

In the MS Appstore app goto your Library. There are all apps you purchased or installed for free.
