Glitches in Affinity Studio vs Affinity Photo2

  • I am a great fan of Affinity (Photo/Pixel) and have used it for about 7 years. Although Affinity 3/Pixel is basically the same as Affinity Photo 2, there are some minor differences that could be described as bugs.

    1. When selecting the rectangular marquee tool, the selected area starts off as a circle until it is large enough to show as a rectangle but this always has rounded corners. The only way to get a rectangle with square corners is to use the polygon tool instead. In Affinity 2 this works normally.
    2. Sources panel. For some reason this panel cannot be made bigger in Affinity 3. You are stuck to the small initial panel size. Other panels can be resized as normal. This makes the panel pretty much unusable when focus stacking as only 2 images are visible. Usually you would expand it a little to see more of the stacked image sources. With just 2 visible images you haven't a clue where you are in the list of images. This is so bad that I now only do focus merge in Affinity 2 where things work normally.

Anyone else have these problems? I am on the April 26 (2351) build.

  • Regarding point 1: I cannot confirm this behavior under Windows 11. Everything works correctly.

Regarding point 2: The Sources panel can be enlarged to the right, but not to the bottom.

  • I am glad I joined this forum. Didn't know how the feather value affected the marquee (these are quite busy screens and I missed that). Setting the value to 0 has fixed this issue. Thanks Toblerone.:)
