Hi! a thing i like from Gimp is that you can clone from any document you have open on it. I wonder if is possible to clone in affinity from other page or other document. It is very handy in some situation. And would be more handy even, to be able to clone from any place of your screen.
Cloning from another page, is possible?

You can place an document on the page. When changing that document. Your design is updated. So yes it can.

Hi! Thanks! Could be an option. Even, i was refering to this: Suppose you have opened documents "A", "B" and "C". You are working currently on document "A". But you want to add some details from document "B" and "C". In Gimp you just switch to the tab where those documents are, ctrol+click on what you want to use as source, and then you go back to the document you are working on. And apply the cloning. Easy.
But in affinity i believe you cant clone even from a different page of the same document, afaik. -

mmm... quite complex. I went to the "View>Pixel>Sources". A Panel is brought to view. But, when i select any other tool, the source panel disappear. I press again the Clone tool and the Sources Panel is gone. I need to go again to the View>Pixel>Sources to add it again.
Beyond the Panel that dissappear quirk, the "Sources" panel do nothing. The "+" do nothing too. Appear something is not working, or brokent, or maybe im not figuring something.
If you have used it, can you explain how is supposed that this work? -

Take a look at the Sources panel in the Photo section of the Panels. You can add an open document and clone from that into/onto the other open doc.
To be honest I haven't used this other than to check see if it is in fact possible. It is.

I had done that. I reported that the panel, even if you open it, disappear and that appear to do nothing.

I have never used that tool but it seems we have to rasterise the source image before we can use it…
QuoteThe Global source can only be defined from a single pixel layer. To use a document containing multiple layers and/or vector objects, you must flatten the document first.

Thanks Ofti! It works now. The "rasterize" was the key. And now the panel dont disappear anymore. So, if it is not present a rasterized layer, the panel can be added, but disappear until there is some rasterized element. Now i can select an object and switch in the Source panel from witch one i want to clone as source. BTW, what is the difference between a bitmap object and a "rasterized" one? I believed they where the same thing.

Actually, me too…

And the layer type (or its icon) doesn't change after rasterising. I knew there was a difference between a bitmapped image placed as image and a pixel layer but I don't understand why we need to rasterise a file where there is only one pixel layer?
Above, a pixel layer — Under, a placed image:
The content cannot be displayed because you do not have authorisation to view this content. -

Oh, good to know my reasoning was to that bad, ha. Y believed that for certain process, Affinity would convert vectors to raster -or flatten the live fx- but in this case i guess that affinity need to convert the bitmaps to some kind of internal raster file to be able to process it... maybe?
In any case, source panel only works if you command "raster" any object before. Then you can add it to the Source panel.
