Canva Ai Word creation is impressive

  • In case you haven't seen how good Canva Ai is with creating words, go have a try if you're using the pro-version. If you don't have pro-version, then this is a good reason to upgrade. The precision and detail are good. In comparison with MJ, well, there's no comparison. I'm aware MJ is releasing V8, and it has text and hand improvements, but Cava is out in front imho. Well done Canva. This was made with a simple prompt: 'Cooked' in medieval font. You can also ask it to create words with different fonts in the same prompt, and it does so with impressive results.

Are the results editable at vector level, or you can only re-prompt?

I didn't try using the vector style in Canva, but I can't see why not, although I don't think it's guaranteed to be a true vector file when exporting/downloading using Canvas' svg option, but could be taken into Affinity for that purpose if you wanted to. I needed some text for a journal cover and haven't explored further with Affinity. Someone already let me know Canva thing's aren't really useful here. Sorry everyone.

  • Echoing marce , I'm interested to know if the output image is vector or raster.

Created in Canva without using any Style, but you could use the Vector option to create, and export out of Canva as a vector, but I don't know if it would be a true SVG. I still use Adobe Illus for vectors at this point in time because of its colour capability with watercolour paintings.

  • FWIW, has anybody with a Canva Pro subscription tried making a word like this directly in Affinity's Canva AI Studio using a prompt like "The word 'Cooked' in a medieval font"?

If so, were the results OK?

    V1, V2, & V3 Mac Affinity apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS Catalina

  • I used copilot to generate this png of the wording Quiz and Bingo for a flier.

That’s pretty impressive! What was the prompt?

    Alfred
    Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro
    Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Affinity Studio (version 3) on Windows

  • That’s pretty impressive! What was the prompt?

Alfred....create fancy font from the words "Quiz and Bingo" with really nice glyphs for the letters Q an B

    Affinity Photo2, Designer2, Publisher 2. Windows 11 25H2
    Affinity Photo2, Designer2, Publisher 2. iPad

  • The word 'Cooked' in a medieval font"

Here is the result of that prompt in the March 26 Affinity:

The content cannot be displayed because you do not have authorisation to view this content.

The enhanced prompt it generated was

    Quote

Flat vector graphic of the word 'Cooked' rendered in a bold, ornate medieval-style font, with clean lines and a simple, minimalist vector aesthetic.

The resulting layers are all Curves, not editable letters. So I tried again with the prompt "Flat vector graphic of the word 'Cooked' rendered in a bold, ornate medieval-style font, with clean lines and a simple, minimalist vector aesthetic. The result should have true vector letters that are editable by the user."

    That gave me:

    and the enhanced prompt was:

    Quote

Flat vector graphic of the word 'Cooked' rendered in a bold, ornate medieval-style font with clean lines and a simple, minimalist vector aesthetic, presented in a rich, deep red color. The graphic features a subtle, sophisticated metallic sheen on the letter edges, emphasizing the ornate details without compromising the clean vector style. The overall composition is balanced and centered, suitable for scalable use.

The result is still all curves, not editable letters.

I then tried: "Flat vector graphic of the word 'Cooked' rendered using the font Algerian. The result should have true vector letters that are editable by the user." That gave me:

The content cannot be displayed because you do not have authorisation to view this content.

which is not in the Algerian font, and still has Curves not actual text.

    Its enhanced prompt was:

    Quote

A clean, simple flat vector graphic of the word 'Cooked' rendered in the Algerian font. The design features true, editable vector letters with a minimalist aesthetic.

I haven't but will. I prefer using the Ai model in Canva over Affinity as it's easy to upscale and edit using Canva's magic edit tools. Especially magic layers.

  • I think the Canva Ai creates an editable image rather than editable character font. I guess you could separate each letter using the magic layers tool. Maybe Canva will get that ability over time as they rollout updates. Creative Fabrica had an Ai Font creator, but they are shelving it. Side note: maybe Canva needs to change magic tool names to reach a wider audience. I like Canva as it streamlines my processes in a focused way -. i.e. background removal is smoother in Canva where Affinity creates jagged edges. Minor, but saves me a lot of time.
