The default tab stop appears to be .25". That's good for #s 1-9, but not good for #s 11-99. I have changed the tab stops to .35" for double digit numbers. Is there a way to make .25 for one digit and .35 two digits default?

Are you wanting to have the digits to be aligned to their right? Or have the text lined up regardless of 1,2, or more digits?

Hello MisterK ,
tab stops are part of the definition of a text style. So you could create a special style with the respective numbers and use this as a 'default'.
But I am not aware of a text style that changes tab stops in dependency of the number of letters (or numbers in this case).
