How do I reset the bounding box of a cropped image to the original size? I know I can move the handles, but I want a way to automatically snap them back to the original image size.

I would use the layer's panel to select and delete the Crop layer.
When an image layer is selected, you’ll see the image’s original dimensions in the context toolbar. Clicking on that value opens a dropdown menu where you can reset the image to its original size with a single click. You can also adjust the size using DPI or percentages, depending on what you need.

Simple - Choose Document > Unclip Canvas. Your entire un-cropped document should now be visible.

That does revert its size, but it does not remove the crop.

That does not work in Layout.

Thanks Old Bruce , That is the solution.
Just to clarify the terminology — are you referring to the picture frame or the image itself?

Picture frame. I believe that is what I showed in the screenshot above.
To my eyes that screenshot shows a Vector Crop, not a Picture Frame. The clue is in the shape of the resize/crop handles, they are thicker lines or skinny rectangles.

I agree. The Vector Crop Tool is displayed by default in both Vector Studio and Layout Studio.
Pixel Studio has the Pixel Crop Tool by default.
The Layout Studio has both the Picture Fame tool and The Vector Crop tool.

The vector crop tool is the default tool used for cropping in Vector Studio or Layout Studio. It does not matter whether a vector or pixel layer is being cropped.
There is the Vector Crop tool and the Photo Crop tool. They are fundimentally different yet use the same tool icon.

Vector Crop tool.
Photo Crop Tool.
Then there is the Picture Frame tool which will also "crop" a picture.

*very nearly the same tool icon
The icon for the Vector Crop Tool has node circles at the ends of the diagonal line.
Thank to all of you. I have the solution.

FWIW, it is the same vector crop tool that is available in Affinity Designer V2, except in V2 there are no nodes in the tool's icon. In AD V2 it uses the same icon that Affinity Photo V2 uses for its pixel based crop tool.
I guess in V3 since both tools can appear on the Tools panel, they tried to make them look a bit different. The difference is subtle but side by side the difference is easier to see:
