The Fontsmith Collection: a library of high-end fonts to use in Affinity

The offer will roll out over the next few weeks. An email will outline the simple steps for access. The offer is available to anyone who has purchased Affinity.

How long does a week actually last? Asking for someone who keeps checking the calendar every few minutes and is convinced time has secretly slowed down ;)

  • I can't and won't get impatient about a free gift. I haven't bought anything, there is no contract and no definite time-frame for delivery has been given, so I'll just wait patiently. It'll arrive at some point and I shall be grateful for it.

Then, when it arrives, no doubt those who are currently champing at the bit will be looking their gift horse in the mouth. I feel sorry for Serif: they are even chastised for not making a generous loyalty gesture fast enough! Sometimes, you just can't win ...

  • I imagine that the fonts will be made available as part of a maintenance update. And since not all Affinity Studio users will receive the fonts, but only those who purchased a V1 and/or V2 license, this will have to be implemented in some technical way.

It's also a financial challenge. I don't think Monotype, which owns Fontsmith, will license the fonts, which will be available for free, to Canva for an apple and an egg.

I completely agree with you. For these constant complainers, even a gift is too expensive.

Don't waste my thoughts with useless ideas!

  • I assume it will be provided through the Affinity Store, since everyone who has purchased a licence should already have an account there.

Many purchases were made via the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store. Users who went down that route will only have Affinity Store accounts if needed for add-ons.

  • I don't mind waiting at all.

If you really, really didn’t mind waiting, you wouldn’t have gone on to say

All I wanted to know is in how many weeks till it will be made available, i.e, a week, two weeks, etc.

You’d simply have told yourself (as I’ve told myself) that it’ll come when it comes.

  • it's been a month now, and still no update.

Santa hasn't even finished doing the fall tune up to his slide! And a few of the fat reindeers still have a pound or two to shed before they fly around dropping the gifts on us. Of course those that are bad will get a lump of hard coal dumped on their noggins.... Heads up!

Heads up? Really?? If I were expecting a lump of coal to be dumped on me I’d be inclined to keep my head down!!

  • Alfred Excerpt from dictionary.cambridge.org: Meaning of heads-up in English...a warning that something is going to happen, usually so that you can prepare for it:..."

If I were given a heads up that a lump of coal was potentially in the offing, I think I would go inside before it had a chance to thwack my head - up or down!!:saint:

  • I was told that they are going to be distributed as .affont.

Which almost certainly means they won't be available to use outside the Affinity apps, just like the *.affont files that were offered to some V2 users were.

That's probably why Canva can gift a big collection of Monotype fonts that otherwise would cost big bucks to buy.
