• I am getting lots of crashes and lost work today.

I have had a couple of crashes when I have moved an element using arrows and shift. That was in pixel. In that case the app simply shut down. When I reopened there was a recovery file.

I have also had a couple of crashes where it has stopped responding for no obvious reason. In those cases, when I reopened there was NO recovery file. So I lost everything since the last save. Since I am doing pen and ink via my Huion, that can be a lot of work.

Is there an autosave setting anywhere? It would at least limit the damage. I try and save often, but I get distracted.

So far, not wildly impressed. This feels a bit beta-ish.

Lower your Settings→Performance→File Recovery Interval. I keep mine at 60.
On Mac, the autosave file is in ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity/autosave folder.

If the app crashes, you may want to make a copy of the *.autosave file first before you relaunch Affinity, and change its suffix to *.af. Then you can open it as a regular document in case the auto-recovery should fail.

  • As I remember, their autosave isn’t reliable. Make Ctrl+S a habit - stick a note on your screen as a reminder.

And even more important: if you don’t use backup software, use “Save As” now and then or make daily copies of any important projects. Affinity has a history of file corruption.
