Unable to open V2 suite after installing V3

  • Since using v3 if I try running any V2 app it starts as normal showing initializing, loading fonts etc. then just displays a splash screen asking me to 'get the new affinity'.

    That was using win10, I then installed V2 apps on a win11 pc, entered affinity ID, password and got the same splash screen, no option to enter Licence.

    Any ideas ?

  • No, the apps have been installed around 2 years, updated to 2.6.5 yesterday and working.

    Installed v3 last night, then tried opening V2 today and get the expected startup sequence then the splash screen.

    I did RMB on the icon in the task bar and could see my previous files but no response, only option was to shutdown the window it opened or let me take it to affinity website.

  • Same here, no problem under Win11 with AF 2.6.5 and Studio installed in parallel. All installed with the msi/exe installer.

    Maybe the TO can show a screenshot of the splashscreen taking him to the new version

  • On McOS 15.7.x I opened all versions of AD, and then opened an afpub file without issues. V1 informed me there is an update which I didn't bother as I doubt I will ever use V1 again,

  • Here on Mac both versions were running fine before I uninstalled version 2.6.5

    So are you saying after uninstalling v2.6.5 it will no loner re-install? Does V1 open and read files?

    Do you have v2 backed up on Time Machine that you can recover?

  • I still have copies of the installer. But yesterday I tested the newest version (3) and after using it for a while I started Designer version 2.6.5. Both versions were running. I could open files with any of them. But I now have uninstalled all version 2 apps.

  • I appreciate all your comments and advise - V2 all working now after realising I had 2 ID's with Affinity, one for the trial and another for the purchase.

    But it needed more than an just an uninstall, I had to poke around various location to remove Affinity, including about 10 in the registry.

    After reinstalling it gave the prompt to enter my ID, this time it worked!
